Penthouse Suite The Point Hotel, Edinburgh

Award-winning architect, the late Andrew Doolan, converted a former Co-operative showroom building at 34 Bread Street into the Point Hotel. Chosen as one of the Top 50 designed hotels in the world, its proximity to the financial zone and Edinburgh's International Conference Centre makes it popular with the business community. Since opening, The Point has expanded to provide a further fifty rooms and The Point Conference Centre - its highly adaptable Penthouse Suite situated on the fifth floor includes a reception area, breakout area and roof terrace. The challenge here was to provide something hardwearing for busy conference traffic that would complement the ultra-modern, minimalist look and feel of this space. The lightness of the tile, combined with the glass frontages creates the illusion of more space. Large scale 30x60cm natural coloured tiles were utilised in tough porcelain and laid 'brick bonded', a very popular fixing method. A panoramic view
