Changing Room The Byre Theatre

St Andrews' original Byre Theatre was situated in a semi-derelict dairy farm cow byre and founded in 1933 by Alexander B. Paterson, a local freelance journalist and prolific playwright. In 1969 the much-loved original Byre Theatre was demolished to make way for a housing development and a new theatre was opened in 1970. The facilities were modest but rather grand compared to its predecessor! Today's extensively refurbished Byre Theatre was built by award-winning architects Nicoll Russell Studios of Broughty Ferry. This bathroom area is a good example of our ever popular mosaic tiling in use on the wall spaces (seen in the pictures to the upper and lower right). If supplied on a mesh backing, mosaics can be used on not only flat wall spaces but also curved walls and even wrapped around columns. Since mosaics create a greater surface area of grouting some clients have concerns about the build of bacteria and cleaning difficulties - Cosmo supply specialised cleaning products including grout protectors and mould growth inhibitors. Tile-fixing specs are supplied by the adhesive supply companies, providing a useful service to the architect. Toilet areas
